Video:
Integrative Management of the Gummy Smile: Lip repositioning, Crown Lengthening & Restorative Nuances
Video Overview
The gingival smiles can be mild, moderate and severe , according to the degree of gingival exposure while smiling . Depending on the etiology of the problem , mild and moderate gummy smiles can be treated with moderate periodontal plastic surgery , however for severe , this procedure is not enough . Currently botox is used as alternative, but this is only a temporary treatment of very short effectiveness. That is why we suggest the technique of surgical repositioning of the upper lip as an effective and definitive alternative to solve this aesthetic problem.
We present Marjorie´s case, a 20 years old girl with a severe gummy smile , the patient presents her facial thirds well proportioned so a skeletal problem is discarded. We planned and performed surgery surgical repositioning of upper lip , followed , after three weeks of periodontal plastic surgery on ten of her upper pieces from second to second premolar. After two weeks impression was taken to process ten veneers . We also present part of the elaboration process of the veneers by our laboratory
